Films On Sourav Ganguly And Abhinav Bindra Put On Hold As Biopics Struggle At Box Office? What We Know
As per reports, seeing the plight of biopics, there is a drastic rethink going on over the real-life stories that are in pre-production, including ones on Sourav Ganguly and Abhinav Bindra.

In a surprising turn of events, several upcoming biopics are being paused or cancelled. This includes the stories of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and India’s first Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra.

A source close to the development told Times Now, “Seeing the plight of biopics, there is a drastic rethink going on over the real-life stories that are in pre-production, and that includes the ones on Sourav Ganguly and Abhinav Bindra. As a matter of fact, even those biopics that are in production or complete, are now on hold. Karan Johar will take a call on the fate of the Akshay Kumar starrer Shankara (the story of lawyer C Shankara Nair’s court battle against the British Raj to expose Michael O’Dwyer’s involvement in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre) after the release of Akshay’s other biopic Sarfira.”

In January, it was reported by ETimes that producers Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg of Luv Films have teamed up Ayushmann Khurrana with director Vikramaditya Motwane for the Sourav Ganguly biopic. This collaboration was to bring together two talented creative forces, promising an exciting project. Ayushmann Khurrana, known for his left-handed batting style similar to Sourav Ganguly’s, was considered a perfect fit for the role. With Vikramaditya Motwane, known for films like ‘Udaan’ and ‘Lootera,’ at the helm, the buzz around it was really high.

Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion, which was released on the June 14 has not been able to make a big mark at the box office. Jointly produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan, the film witnessed a major dip in the box office. According to a report in Sacknilk, the film minted only Rs. 3.25 Crores in the box office on its fifth day. The film’s total collection now stands at Rs 29.75 crore inching closer to the Rs 30 Crore mark.Chandu Champion had an overall 13.86% Hindi occupancy, with Lucknow, Mumbai, Delhi Pune, and Jaipur leading the occupancy.
