Family Star: Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur's Film Gets U/A Certificate From CBFC, Here's Why
Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur's upcoming film Family Star has got a U/A certificate from the censor board.

The eagerly anticipated movie ‘Family Star,’ starring Vijay Deverakonda, is gearing up for its big launch on April 5. The buzz around the film has intensified on social media, thanks in part to the casting of Mrunal Thakur as the female lead alongside Vijay Deverakonda.

The censor board has approved the movie with a U/A certification, noting the presence of certain cuss words in the narrative. The decision came after a screening in Hyderabad, where the board opted to remove these words, particularly from scenes set in the United States, highlighting the film’s family drama genre.

A recent article in the Hindustan Times have revealed that the film underwent modifications to achieve its U/A rating, with specific cuss words and scenes depicting heavy alcohol use being edited out. After these adjustments, the movie, which runs for two hours and forty-three minutes, is now ready for its theatrical release.

Family Star introduces audiences to the life of Govardhan, a middle-class individual committed to his family’s happiness and well-being. His unexpected romance becomes a focal point of the film. The movie’s promotional materials, including its trailer and music tracks, have garnered favorable reactions from audiences and social media users alike.

Last year, Vijay Deverakonda shared a teaser for the film. The clip shows a ganglord (Ajay Ghosh) informing Vijay that chopping onions and getting kids ready for school is not a sign of masculinity. Vijay is shown undertaking these chores in the teaser. He seems unconcerned by these insults and then proceeds to bend a rod and beat one of the gang members. The teaser concludes with Mrunal Thakur calling Vijay, implying a potential romance track between the two stars. In the caption, he wrote, “In every family – there is A Hero! This one is for all of you.”

Directed by Parasuram Petla and produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under the Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, “Family Star” promises to deliver both entertainment and emotional engagement.
