The lyricist revealed that his mother had no idea that he used to write songs.

Nagarjun Sharma is a well-known lyricist and screenplay writer in the Kannada film industry. Did you know his passion has always been cricket? A commerce graduate by qualification, Nagarjun Sharma, quit his job at Tesco and chose to be a lyricist. Recently, in an interview, the writer opened up about his journey in the industry. In the interview, Nagarjun Sharma revealed that his mother had no idea that he used to write songs. This was not what he planned to do in life. As per Nagarjun Sharma, he “dreamed of becoming a Ranji-winning cricketer” and bringing glory to the country by playing cricket. But, he confessed, “The joy of being a lyrics writer is much different”. Now, he plans to direct a film as soon as he has the necessary support he needs to make a film.

Nagarjun Sharma shared that he would do something part-time, since he had no connection with the film industry. Nagarjun entered the industry looking for opportunities and successfully got a chance to write a song. His first release was Tili Sanje from Operation Alamelamma, which boosted his confidence and from 2017-18 his journey began.

Nagarjun Sharma credits the director of Operation Alamelamma, Simple Suni, for bringing him good luck. It was because of Simple Suni that the lyricist got his first break and the results were amazing. Among his many hits, Nagarjun Sharma’s fans really loved the songs Hands Up and Narayana Narayana from the 2019 film Avane Srimannarayana. He was then introduced to ace music directors Charan Raj and Ajaneesh Loknath, after which he delivered the Nigooda track from Kavaludaari. He also delivered another hit track Ondhu Maathale from the film Paddehuli.

Nagarjun has also worked with actor Darshan Thoogudeepa in the film Kaatera. His experience of writing a song for the star, he said, was different. Nagarjun Sharma wrote a song imagining the character of Darshan from Tharun Sudhir’s point of view and delivered Punyathma. Nagarjun has also penned lyrics for Pathibeku.com, Lambodhara, MLA, Demo Piece, 777 Charlie, Salaga and Popcorn Monkey Tiger.
