Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has received phenomenal response Internationally with an outstanding box office as audiences throng to the theatres to watch their much loved franchise. As the film gears up for its India release, Dan Aykroyd, who has been part of this popular franchise from the beginning, shares what impressed him about the franchise.
Dan Aykroyd, who returns to his role as Ray Stantz and executive producer of the franchise, says, “What really impressed me was the way Jason and Gil have continued the story in ways that feels drawn from the DNA we drew up in 1984. Ultimately, these were regular guys – and now, an ordinary family – who joke and tease and push each other, but they also save the world from terrifying spectral menaces and take that seriously. I love that combination on the big screen.”
Gil Kenan’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” sees the triumphant return of the Spengler family to the iconic New York City firehouse where it all began. They join forces with the original Ghostbusters, who have established a top-secret research lab to take ghost-busting to new heights. However, their discovery of an ancient artifact unexpectedly unleashes an evil force, putting the world at risk of a second Ice Age. The new and old Ghostbusters must unite to protect their home and save the world from certain doom.
The film features an eclectic ensemble of Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. The trailer released earlier this year and it showed the new generation kids of the Spenglers family taking up the paranormal business.
They form a team with the original Ghostbusters — Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, and Annie Potts. These veterans created a top-notch secret lab research centre to study ghosts and evolve them with scientific methods. But, when the discovery of a ball-shaped artefact unleashes a malicious force, the new and old Ghostbusters assemble under one roof to work together and save the world from an imminent danger — the second Ice Age.
Sony Pictures Entertainment India releases Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire exclusively in Indian cinemas on 26th April 2024 in English and Hindi.
