CBFC CEO Reacts To 'Udta Punjab' Leak Allegation
While speaking to CNN News18, he said, “Film didn't leak from the Censor Board. It was available on net before Censor Board received it.”

If it was ‘Udta Punjab’ makes’ row with CBFC last week after after it suggested 89 cuts, the film continues to make headlines, for different reasons though. Two days ahead of its release, 'Udta Punjab' was been leaked to piracy sites, and a case has been registered against unknown people by the movie producers.

However, CBFC CEO Anurag Srivastav has refuted ‘Udta Punjab’ leak allegations.

While speaking to CNN News18, he said, “Film didn't leak from the Censor Board. It was available on net before Censor Board received it."

CBFC CEO also explained Smitha Nair how it was impossible for the leak to have happened from the end of CBFC.

While speaking to CNN News18, Anurag explained the first stage when the examining committee had to view the film. As he said, the filmmakers had brought the film in a hard drive. And it was through that hard drive that the film was played. The examining members viewed the film and once the viewing ended the hard drive was taken away by the makers.

Later, when the date and time for the screening of the film for the revising committee was communicated to the makers, they again brought the movie in a hard drive and screened it for them. And post the viewing, it was again taken back. Up until this stage, there was no question for the copy of the film to have been submitted to CBFC, or for that copy to have remained in CBFC office.

When a petition was filed in Punjab and Haryana High Court against the film, and directed the filmmakers to screen the film for Amicus Query that they had appointed, the makers again got the DVD and screened it. The CBFC CEO clearly said they had nothing to do with it.

The CEO also said that they had asked the makers to give them a DVD before the adult film certification was given. The makers were asked to do this within 48 hours. CBFC sought the copy because since a scene was deleted, it would have changed the film’s duration.

To this filmmaker refused. CBFC said they went to court and then the court directed them to do so. And CBFC got a copy/DVD of the film only at 6pm yesterday. And as CBFC CEO said, it signed and sealed in everybody’s presence. He also stated that considering the fact that the film was uploaded around noon yesterday, how is it possible that they were being accused of leaking the copy when CBFC got their hands on it around 6pm – hours after it was uploaded.

The film's producer Anurag Kashyap has issued a statement urging fans to curb their curiosity for two more days and not download the film. Here’s what he posted on Facebook:
