In 2012, Ayushmann made his big screen debut with director Soojit Sircar’s romantic comedy film Vicky Donor alongside Yami Gautam and Anu Kapoor. The film was a big hit making Ayushmann a revelation. After that, there was no looking back for Ayushmann. He appeared in several superhit films like Dream Girl, Bala, Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan, Article 15, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bareilly Ki Barfi and others.
He bagged the prestigious National Film Award for his performance in the thriller film Andhadhun. Apart from being an actor, Ayushmann is also a musician and has lent his voice to several big hit tracks like Paani Da, Saadi Galli Aaja, Mitti Di Khushboo, Nazm Nazm, Mere Liye Tum Kaafi Ho and others.
Ayushmann will be next seen in producer Karan Johar’s upcoming untitled film co-starring actress Sara Ali Khan. Directed by Aakash Kaushik, the film is touted to be an action-comedy. However, further details about the project are yet to be revealed. Sources close to the project told entertainment portal PinkVilla, “Karan and Guneet have been very excited about this subject as the script has shaped up well with a perfect blend of espionage elements with comedy. The script tick marks all the boxes of a commercial film as it has scale, thrill, and action with a lot of comedy, and the trio of Karan, Guneet, and Aakash feel that Ayushmann Khurrana fits the character to the T.”
Reportedly, Ayushmann will be soon joining the Maddock Films’ Horror-comedy universe with the film Vampires of Vijay Nagar alongside actress Rashmika Mandanna. An official announcement of the film is still awaited.
