Angelina Jolie, 49, turned heads as she hit the red carpet at the 2024 Venice Film Festival for the August 29 premiere of her latest film, Maria. Jolie takes on the role of the legendary opera singer Maria Callas in this biopic, directed by Pablo Larraín.

Jolie wore a stunning custom strapless beige gown by designer Tamara Ralph. The elegant dress featured a fur stole covering the sleeves, adding a hint of wintery glamour to the summer event. Her blonde hair was styled in a simple side part, giving her a classic yet effortless look. She completed her appearance with a bold red lip and matching nails.

Angelina’s Venice arrival on August 27 had already set the paparazzi into a frenzy. She was spotted in a khaki-colored belted trench coat, paired with navy bottoms, dark sunglasses, and black boots, looking effortlessly chic. She kept her hair straight and down over her shoulders, a look that has become synonymous with her timeless style.

On August 29, she was seen on the festival grounds sporting different chic looks, including a black dress with a low back that revealed her tattoos and a flowy brown chiffon dress that had her looking like the goddess of Venice.

Maria is part of the Venice Film Festival’s in-competition lineup and features a talented ensemble cast, including Kodi Smit-McPhee, Pierfrancesco Favino, Alba Rohrwacher, and Haluk Bilginer. Jolie’s dedication to her role was clear even before filming began. In 2022, she expressed her commitment, saying, “I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria’s life and legacy. I will give all I can to meet the challenge.”

The Venice Film Festival also features Brad Pitt’s film Wolfs. Amid their ongoing divorce and legal battle over Château Miraval, festival organisers have carefully orchestrated their schedules to prevent any awkward encounters. Jolie will leave Venice immediately after her premiere, while Pitt will only arrive two days later, ensuring they don’t cross paths.

“Angelina will be on the first day, on Thursday (Aug 29), and she will leave right after with (‘Maria’ director) Pablo Larraín” for the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado, Venice artistic director Alberto Barbera told Vanity Fair. “So Brad will arrive only on Saturday, to Venice. There is no way that they can cross each other at the Lido,” the famed island on which the fest takes place.
