Beyond her fashion choices, Alia Bhatt also embraced her Indian culture by warding off the evil eye in a quintessential desi way.

Alia Bhatt is widely recognised as a fashion queen who steals the spotlight whenever she graces the red carpet. This year’s Met Gala was no different, with Alia stunning in a saree by Sabyasachi. Interestingly, Alia’s traditional attire received the loudest cheers on the Met Gala red carpet. International paparazzi couldn’t contain their excitement as she posed. Needless to say, her look was loved by fans and her family, including mother-in-law Neetu Kapoor and sister-in-law Riddhima Kapoor Sahni.

Beyond her fashion choices, Alia also embraced her Indian culture by warding off the evil eye in a quintessential desi way. She applied a kajal dot behind her ear, a traditional practice. It can be seen in a photo where she faces away from the camera.

Meanwhile, the actress is back to Mumbai after attending fashion’s biggest event. She was papped at the private airport, exuding boss lady vibes in a pair of blue denims, grey blazer and a white tee. She completed her look with sunnies and white sneakers. Check out the video here:

During her red carpet interview with Vogue, Alia expressed her excitement to represent India in a saree. “I’m feeling great. I’m feeling very excited. Months of preparation, lots of conversations and all builds up to this one moment. It’s so surreal but it’s also very special. It’s my second time at the Met, but my first time wearing a saree. When I thought of the dress code, ‘Garden of Time’, I felt it needed something timeless and there’s nothing timeless than a saree,” Alia told Vogue.

While it made for a historic moment, Alia made sure that the pressure didn’t bog her down. “It’s not about giving yourself too much pressure and taking it seriously. It’s a massive and big deal but it was also about having fun and light on the inside, so that your face looks lit up and happy. That’s something I was focusing on. Having said that, I really had a lovely time,” she said.

Meanwhile, on the film front, Alia will soon be seen in Jigra. The film is directed by Vasan Bala and jointly produced by Alia and Karan Johar. She has also signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
