Prominent Marathi actress Pooja Sawant tied the knot with Siddesh Chavan, an Australia-based banker, this year. On June 21, the actress celebrated the day of Vat Purnima, an occasion where married women observe a fast for the health and long life of their husbands. On her social media handles, Pooja Sawant shared celebratory images from the day. She shared the series of images from her first Vat Purnima on Instagram. In the first image, she is captured radiating happiness in a gorgeous kanjeevaram saree, carrying a pooja thali. Her breathtaking saree is hued with the bright colours of red and orange, with gold embroidery, while she has chosen to pair it with gold choker, mangal sutra, along with green bangles on each wrist. The whole look is completed with a delicate nose ring and small but striking gold earrings. She has left her hair open, styled to her left shoulder.
The following images show her circumambulating the wada tree, tying it with a white thread. The caption on the post read, “First Vat Purnima, @siddy.16 I miss you the most today,” indicating that her husband could not be with her for the day.

On the day of Vat Purnima, married women are expected to keep a fast for the long life of their husbands and worship the wada tree. The day is celebrated on a full moon of the Jyeshtha month.
