Television actor Pankit Thakker has revealed that he was in Jammu when the Resai terror attack took place. The actor shared that he was supposed to start walking towards the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra. However, when he heard about the incident, he returned to his hotel. The attack, which targeted a bus carrying pilgrims to the Shiv Khori temple, left ten dead and several others injured earlier this week.
Pankit called the incident “horrifying” and told ETimes, “It took me days to come out from the experience and talk about it. I have seen people in pain and the rush. It was scary. I am deeply saddened and outraged by the recent terror attack in Jammu Reasi. The violence that has been going on in Jammu & Kashmir in past few days is absolutely shameful. It is disheartening to witness innocent lives being lost and the escalating tensions in the region.”
He further condemned the terror attack and urged people to stay united in order to send out a strong message to these terror groups. “”My heart goes out to all the victims and their families who have been affected by this brutal attack. It is devastating to think that people’s lives are being torn apart by such acts of violence. Jammu & Kashmir has always been a land of unparalleled beauty, but these incidents tarnish its reputation and disturb the peace that the region yearns for. Attack in Jammu Reasi is yet another reminder that we must stand united against such acts of cowardice and evil,” the actor added.
Pankit, who was recently seen in Barsatein, further urged the authorities to strengthen security measures and concluded by saying, “I wholeheartedly condemn this act of terrorism and call upon the authorities to take swift and decisive action in bringing the culprits to justice. We need to strengthen our security measures and ensure that such attacks do not recur in the future. The safety and security of our citizens should be our utmost priority. I empathize with the people of Jammu & Kashmir and to all those affected by this terror attack.”
For the unversed, the tragic incident occurred on Sunday (June 9) when terrorists ambushed a bus traveling from the Shiv Khori shrine to Katra in the Pouni area, causing it to plunge into a gorge. This brutal act claimed the lives of at least ten people and injured over 30 others.
Several television actors including Abhishek Kumar, Kapil Sharma, Hina Khan, Rupali Ganguly and Ali Goni among others also expressed concern and paid tributes to those who lost their lives.
