Director-actor John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place generated a euphoric response from the audience upon its inception in 2018. Starring Krasinski himself alongside Emily Blunt, the sci-fi horror went on to win several accolades. But even after the release of its sequel in 2020, movie enthusiasts were left with one question — the origin of the blind, alien predators in a post-apocalyptic world. Now to answer that burning question, the makers have come up with the film’s prequel titled A Quiet Place: Day One. The trailer of the franchise’s upcoming third segment was recently unveiled, exploring the start of the deadly invasion. A Quiet Place: Day One is slated to release on June 28.
The grim trailer begins with a few stills from the first film where the Abbott family deals with the alien invasion. It has been over 400 days since the creatures took over the suburban town where they live. The family uses sign language and gestures to communicate lest the aliens hear them. But in an abrupt change of scenes, the audience is taken to Day 1 of the attack. Lupita Nyong’o, the primary protagonist is walking in a fairly busy New York City when suddenly the sky bursts into an explosion of fireballs destroying everything. In the cloud of smoke, she witnesses strange creatures attacking the people, dragging them away and killing everyone mercilessly, underlining the beginning of a chaotic dystopian future.
“Discover why our world went quiet" read the intriguing tagline of the trailer. In the ending few seconds, Lupita Nyong’o navigates through the disaster-struck city, trying to escape the dangerous otherworldy beasts. Interspersed with heavy action sequences and a looming uncertainty alongside heart-stopping moments and jumpscares, A Quiet Place: Day One promises an edge-of-the-seat ride filled with sequences that will make you hold your breath.
Directed by Michael Sarnoski, A Quiet Place: Day One introduces fresh faces, including Lupita Nyong’o, Hereditary fame Alex Wolff, and Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn. Djimon Hounsou, who starred in A Quiet Place Part II will be reprising his role in the third instalment too. The film is produced under the banners of Paramount Pictures, Sunday Night Productions, and Platinum Dunes
