Padman
This social dramedy was based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist who broke the taboo around menstruation by inventing low-cost sanitary pads for his wife and other women in the village. The film featured Lakshmikant paid by Akshay Kumar who goes on to work towards improving the lives of women by creating low-cost sanitary pads. In a subplot, the film reveals how Pari (Sonam Kapoor), a friend who helps him in his journey, develops affection for Lakshmikant, who she knows is in love with his wife. Thus, setting the ground for another memorable incomplete love story.
