New Delhi: The capital turned into a fashion Mecca with 25 coveted Indian designers putting forward the most magnificent show in the history of Indian fashion. India Fashion Week, in its 25th edition, did something that might not happen again in the near future. It managed to bring together 25 biggest designers from the Indian fashion circuit to showcase their creativity for the most opulent grand finale themed 'Crafts of India'. The show was a visual delight and the designers made it even more delightful with their striking array of looks representing western, fusion and Indian lines. The couturiers put together a resplendent creative expression of the luxuriant Indian heritage of crafts and weaves.
It was indeed one of the most memorable shows in the history of Indian fashion and here are 10 things that made us say so:
1) The fact that 25 renowned Indian designers came together to present a grand finale was in itself overwhelming.
2) Among the eminent designers were the Padma Shri awardees Ritu Kumar and Wendell Rodricks.
3) Ritu Kumar, who last showcased her collection at Lakme Fashion Week 2013, sashayed her designs on the ramp after two long years.
4) Indian fashion's favourite boy- Rohit Bal wowed the spectators with his charisma as he broke into a gig and did his signature steps while taking the final bow.
5) 50 best designs by these 25 designers left everyone awe-struck. Especially the ones created by Anamika Khanna, Ritu Kumar, Manish Malhotra, Rohit Bal and JJ Vallaya.
6) The classical and folk music played in the backdrop set the mood for Indian fashion's biggest night.
7) Seeing Nyonika Chatterjee (the ramp queen of the 90s) sauntering down the ramp for Sabyasachi Mukerjee was a treat to the eyes. And since she is Sabysachi's favourite muse, it was all the more special to see her in the designer's creation.
8) Ritu Kumar's bridal lehenga was the showstealer of the evening and so was JJ Vallaya's bridal outfit.
9) This was one of the most spectacular shows Indian fashion ever witnessed.
10) The overwhelmed audience couldn't stop themselves but to give a standing ovation at the end of the show to mark their respect to these reputed designers.
