David Warner Fumes, Hurls a Mouthful After Controversial LBW Dismissal During AUS vs SL World Cup Clash
David Warner was utterly furious with umpire J Wilson after being given LBW out on a controversial dismissal during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 clash against Sri Lanka

Australian opener David Warner was not pleased one bit after being given LBW out during the Australia vs Sri Lanka ICC ODI World Cup 2023 clash in Lucknow. On Monday, October 16, Australia were given a target of 210 runs to chase by Sri Lanka. Warner and Mitchell Marsh came out for the chase but the former was dismissed by Dilshan Madushanka.

Warner was adjudged LBW out, but the umpire Joel Wilson raised his finger, prompting a surprising reaction from the 36-year-old. The Australian opener opted for a DRS review but the replays showed that the ball was just clipping the stumps, and the dismissal stood valid courtesy of the umpire’s call.

The southpaw was very furious as he made his way back to the dugout, hurled a mouthful along the way and even slammed his bat once he was back in the dressing room.

Madhushanka caught Warner’s pad in the fourth over, the back of the back-of-the-length delivery was angling in towards the Aussie opener’s leg. While the batsman felt that the ball was going wide of the leg stump, he was left fuming at the replays when the decision stood because of the umpire’s call.

Earlier, a similar controversy unfolded during the Australia vs South Africa game, when Steve Smith and Marcus Stoinis were given out.

Both batters made their displeasure clear and the Aussies would go on to lose the match.

Four balls after getting rid of Warner, Madushanka also got rid of Steven Smith courtesy of another LBW dismissal as Australia made melee of the chase before Marsh smashed a fifty to steady the ship.
