New Delhi: Bhumi Pednekar, who made an unconventional debut as an overweight woman, has been widely lauded for her performance as an overweight woman.
At the ongoing FDCI India Couture Week, the Dum Laga Ke Haisha actress turned the heat up in an exquisite Anita Dongre creation. While talking to News18.com, the actress shed light into the changing times and the changing scenario of the weight taboo existing in the industry.
When asked about what fashion means to her, she said it's "totally my personality". She said, "fashion to me is my personality and my mood; I dress everyday differently. I don’t think I follow a certain trend. There are days I wear a salwar kameez, there are days I'm wearing a crop top, so it's totally my personality."
Bhumi had gained around 30kgs for the film but post the film she was back in her slim and trim avatar. While expressing her views about the culture of the 'thin' models, she said I don't know why it has been like that since forever but she's happy with the changing times. "I don’t know why it is like that because unfortunately I'm not a part of the league of people who make these norms. But I do believe that times are changing. We have lines that are being made for plus size girls, bigger women. There are evens that are happening internationally. It is always good to appreciate a change instead of just thinking about what was happening in the past."
It's not just Bhumi, who has won plaudits for her weight loss but Parineeti Chopra is another one who has hogged the limelight in the recent past for her spectacular transformation. "Parineeti has become so good. Bomb!" is what she said when asked about her.
But what's really urging these women? "Today people want to be fit, it’s not only the actors but my cousin, sisters; everyone wants to be fit. It has nothing to do with the acting world or films. Everybody likes being fit. We don’t have enough knowledge about our body. Times are changing. I don’t think it's a requirement of our industry anymore, I think it's a requirement of our personal self".
When asked about her brush with KRK's 'Deshdrohi', the actress quipped that she has no idea why people think she has watched that film a hundred times and also quipped about her not keeping any track of his latest acts. "I really don’t know where has this come from. I’ve watched it but not hundred times. I get this question all the time. I don’t really have a view about him, I just watched Deshdrohi once and I haven’t really kept a track of what’s happening with Mr KRK".
The actress looked ravishing in an Anita Dongre creation and credited its 'bohemian and edgy' nature to have inspired her to opt for it. "It's the perfect mix of bohemian and traditional feel, it's chic but at the same time, there's something fun about it."
