Hidesign unveils its Autumn/Winter 2015 collection and lead designer Alberto Ciaschini speaks about the new collection. Here's an excerpt from the interview.
1. Tell us about your new Autumn/Winter 2015 collection for Hidesign
Inspired by minimalistic and clean style from the 90’s is Alberto’s AW 15-16 collection. Minimal styles arise in the purity of form where less is better. The 80’s era was colourful and filled with pop whereas the 90’s saw a shift with reductivism which extended into aesthetics which were seen in the design processes itself. Seductiveness came through the simplicity and attitude in a woman. She would carry herself in clean silhouettes medium heel or flat footwear and prefers colours such as sophisticated blues, pearl grey and khaki with a beautiful Hidesign bag. The collection this season has geometric designs, monochrome colours, cutwork embroidery on bags, and bucket bags.
2. Since it is inspired from the 90s trend, what distinctiveness did you see in the 90s that made you come up with the whole collection?
Minimalism.
3. What do you love the most about the new collection?
The simple shapes without forgetting the attention to details and the identity of the brand.
4. Known for the premium quality leather used in the making of your bags, how much focus do you people give on craftsmanship and design?
I feel leather is equally important. I give attention to the leather as it is the soul for construction. Choosing the correct leather is important as it gives life to the bag. Craftsmanship is important to bring out the design.
5. What all things do you people keep in mind while designing a bag and how long does it take to design a luxury bag?
When I decide the inspiration, I translate it in the collection. For this collection, I kept the details from the 90’s and translated it for the brand. Choosing the perfect detail is important to create a collection. It takes approx. 1 month to design a bag.
6. India as a market for Hidesign is huge and there are people who only stick to Hidesign when it comes to bags and accessories. Do you have any further thoughts regarding the expansion?
I would like to see it in Europe.
