The Aja Ekadashi fast is observed on the Ekadashi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. Today, three auspicious alignments are occurring on the day of Aja Ekadashi, making this fast particularly significant. King Harishchandra also observed the Aja Ekadashi fast, which brought many positive changes in his life. Let’s hear from Tirupati astrologer Dr. Krishna Kumar Bhargava about the three auspicious coincidences happening on Aja Ekadashi, the benefits of observing this fast, and the ideal time for breaking the fast (Parana).
This year, the Aja Ekadashi fast falls on Thursday, August 29. The Bhadrapada Krishna Ekadashi Tithi, essential for observing the Aja Ekadashi fast, begins at 1:19 AM on August 29 and ends at 1:37 AM on August 30.
This time, three auspicious coincidences are aligning on the day of Aja Ekadashi. The first is that the fast dedicated to Lord Vishnu falls on a Thursday, a day traditionally associated with worship and fasting for Lord Vishnu. The second coincidence is the formation of Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga on Aja Ekadashi, which begins at 4:39 PM on the same day and concludes at 5:58 AM on August 30, the day of Parana. The third coincidence is the formation of Siddhi Yoga in the morning on the day of fasting, lasting until 6:18 PM.
If you plan to observe the Aja Ekadashi fast on August 29, it is recommended to perform the worship after sunrise, as Siddhi Yoga will be in effect during that time. The most auspicious time for worship is between 5:58 AM and 7:34 AM. Additionally, other favourable times include the Char-Samanya Muhurta from 10:46 AM to 12:22 PM, the Labh-Unnati Muhurta from 12:22 PM to 1:58 PM, and the Amrit-Best Muhurta from 1:58 PM to 3:34 PM. The fast of Aja Ekadashi will be broken on Friday, August 30. On that day, you can break the fast between 7:49 AM to 8:31 AM.
Benefits of Aja Ekadashi Vrat
The person who observes the Aja Ekadashi fast experiences the removal of poverty and the arrival of happiness and prosperity in their home.
If you have lost any of your precious things, you can get them back by observing the fast of Aja Ekadashi. There is such a religious belief because King Harishchandra had observed the fast of Aja Ekadashi, due to which he got back his lost kingdom, wealth, wife and son.
By observing the fast of Aja Ekadashi, children remain happy and all the troubles coming upon them are removed.
By fasting on Aja Ekadashi and performing the prescribed rituals to worship Lord Vishnu, one’s sins are cleansed, leading to heaven after death.
