Pakistani cricket fans minced no words while criticising Babar Azam’s team after the Men in Green were knocked out of the ICC World Cup 2023’s semi-final race on Saturday. Pakistan’s chances of advancing to the next round were extremely unlikely when they took on England at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens yet fans backed their side for at least a consolation win. But that weren’t meant to be.
Batting first, England put up a daunting total of 337/9 with Jonny Bairstow (59), Joe Root (60) slamming half-centuries up front. England star Ben Stokes was the top scorer in the camp with 84 to his name.
In response, Pakistan were bowled out for 244, losing their final outing by a margin of 93 runs. As for defending champions England, their torrid run in the tournament ended with a win.
