THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has urged the candidates in the state to make use of the job opportunities offered through it. Addressing mediapersons here on Monday, Commission chairman N K  Raghupathy said that several vacancies meant for the state were diverted to other states in 2011 owing to the shortage of qualified candidates in the state. “Of the total 1,648 vacancies allotted to Kerala, 1,025 were diverted to other states following the absence of qualified candidates here,” said Raghupathy. BSF DIG George Manjuran and CRPF Commandant Biju Lazer also attended the news conference. “The SSC would also consider the suggestion by the Kerala Chief Secretary to provide the option to write the exams in Malayalam,” Raghupathy said.“We will try our best to implement this from the ensuing constable recruitment to Central Police Organisations,” he said. The Commission was recently assigned by the Union Government to make recruitments to the Central Police Organisations. “The unemployed youth in the state should make full use of the opportunity,” he said.Raghupathy also said that he felt the youth in the state were less aware of the SSC recruitments. “Another reason would be the absence of coaching centres for SSC recruitments in the state when compared to its counterparts in North India,” he said. “Of late, the Central paramilitary forces too are witnessing a shortfall of candidates from the state,” George Manjuran said. RecruitmentsThe SSC would recruit constables (general duty) and rifle men to the Central Police organisations, including the BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and the Assam Rifles. “The notice in this regard would be published in the Employment News December 3 to 9 issue,” Raghupathy said. The vacancies were  allotted as state/ UT wise to be filled by candidates in the respective state/ UT. “There are around 52,000 vacancies all over the country and the number is likely to rise at the time of appointment,” Raghupathy said.
