New Delhi: An elaborate plan to uplift standards of Indian hockey was put forward and discussed by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in Chennai.

Indian Hockey Federation Secretary K Jothikumaran told PTI that officials from 10 out of 30 internal units were present to hear FIH's plans and its financial implications.

"Most of the recommendations, including having separate committees and having them on the IHF Executive Board, are in place. We need to upgrade these to the ideas of FIH to make the IHF work on par with the world body," Jothikumaran said.

The FIH had submitted its project report in November citing 14 areas of concern in men's and women's hockey in India and was awaiting the conclusion of the first stage to get the second underway.

"As suggested by FIH, the communication aspect of IHF will be upgraded. A website on the lines of the FIH suggestion will be implemented after the final meeting", Jothikumaran said.
