CHENNAI: The Song and Drama Division, Chennai Regional Centre inaugurated a two-day orientation-cum-work shop for the newly registered private cultural troupes of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday morning. The event, which was held at the Asha Nivas at Nungambakkam, was intended to enable the members of these troupes to understand the basic aspects of government publicity, as well as message dissemination and inter-personal communication via traditional media.The workshop was inaugurated by KM Ravindran IIS, Additional Director General (SR) PIB Chennai and Chairman IMPCC and presided over by M Sadacharavel, Zonal Director NYKS TN and Puducherry, and M Therasanthan, former Assistant Director, PIB, Chennai. Dr V Siva Kumar FPO, Puducherry addressed the participants. Sessions such as ‘Voter Education’ by the Election department, Government of Tamil Nadu and flagship programmes of Government of India, Use of Iodated Salt, Tribal Development, Women and Child Care, Rural Development, Health and Family Welfare and Consumer Protection were some of the areas covered.Approximately 200 artistes from 14 troupes attended the workshop.
