New Delhi: There has been some headway in the nuclear leak probe at the Kaiga nuclear power plant in Karnataka.
One contract worker has been detained for questioning.
However, police say no arrests have been made in connection with the radiation contamination of a drinking water cooler at the plant.
"We have not made any arrests in the case so far," Inspector General of Police Gopal Hosur was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.
"Detailed investigation is being carried out and I have instructed the district police officials to initiate necessary steps," Hosur, who visited the plant earlier, said.
The probe into the leak incident is being supervised by Superintendent of Police, Uttara Kannada, Raman Gupta.
Talking to PTI, Gupta said "an FIR has been filed at Mallapur police station (Uttara Kannada district) on Wednesday. We need some time to carry out the investigation."
An investigation team is probing last week's incident in which around 55 employees working in the first maintenance unit of the plant were tested for increasing level of Tritium also known as Hydrogen-3 after they consumed water from the water cooler in the operating area on November 24.
The Government has already said its a case of internal sabotage.
