BANGALORE: Work on the Soap Factory Station of Namma Metro, which has been pending for nearly ten months following the filing of a writ petition in the High Court, is set to begin from May 10. The court recently dismissed the petition and the time of three weeks status quo ordered to knock the Supreme Court’s door is due to end.According to BMRCL officials, the work will begin on May 10, in all probability. However, officials seem to be more worried about land acquisition delays in Minsk Square where work has been delayed for more than eight months. “Progress at this location is slow and behind schedule. It can affect the overall completion schedule of the underground station,” said a release by BMRCL.Another case of litigation has affected work in Reach 3b, in which work on the viaduct at Dasarahalli has been affected. ProgressThree Earth Pressure Balanced Machines (EPBMs) have been ordered from China in order to deal with the tricky soil conditions in certain parts of the 24.20 km north-South corridor from Hessaraghatta to Puttenahalli. This stretch has softer soil consisting of clay and EPBMs are built to handle softer soils. According to BMRCL, two of these machines will be put into operation from August and the third one by October.
