Kolkata: Jadavpur University Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das on Thursday said he will take action as per rules and regulations of the state varsity where a controversy has erupted over posters and slogans supporting Afzal Guru and demanding "freedom" for Kashmir, Manipur and Nagaland.
Governor K N Tripathi, also the chancellor of the university, has sought a report from the VC over the incident. "I have received a letter from the Chancellor of the university about the incident. He wants a report on it. I cannot disclose the contents of the letter because its confidential. I will act according to the rules and regulations," Das said.
He thanked everybody for maintaining peace as during the day an ABVP rally came very close to the campus to protest against "anti-national" slogans raised two days ago in solidarity with JNU students. Das, who was in Delhi for an official meeting, had to cut short his trip after today's rally.
