BANGALORE: Commemorating the 57th World Wildlife Week, the state forest department is organising a walkathon starting from High Court premises at Cubbon Park and culminating at Lalbagh on October 2.Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will inaugurate the walkathon. The annual event is aimed at creating awareness among citizens about protection of the wildlife, said the programme coordinator. Around 1,500 people will take part in the walkathon. Meanwhile, preliminary events have already begun with painting competitions for school children which was held at Aranya Bhawan on Sunday. Best three from each category will be awarded during the valedictory on October 10.
