Designer Swati Modo will be showing some attention-grabbers at the DFW.

Who can forget quirky Carrie Bradshaw's even quirkier Manolo Blahniks in the HBO series Sex And The City? Those statement accessories made the Spanish designer's shoes, a household name. According to the style pundits, statement accessories are here to stay right through 2009.

Footwear designer Swati Modo will be showcasing some real attention-grabbers at the Delhi Fashion Week, which kicks off on March 19. Modo custom-designs shoes for her clients and has worked those accessories for fashion designers like JJ Valaya, Zubair Kirmani, Rimzim Dadu, in the last three fashion seasons.

Her shoes also retail at her signature store in Delhi's designer district Shahpurjat, at funky store Nimboo Closet in Bangalore and at Anonym in Hyderabad.

Last year, she designed a collection of shoes with a zodiac theme for men and women, and according to the designer it was a raging success.

So, can anyone carry off these bold babies?

24-year old public relations executive Sonia Kapoor, who swears by her Gucci pumps outlines three fashion commandments on how to make them work for you:

* Thou shall not slouch.

* Thou shalt walk with confidence.

* Thou shalt not let other components of your ensemble compete with your shoes.

Celebrity statement: Singer Beyonce Knowles is a huge fan of the statement accessory, and really knows how to work them.

Smart tip: Though style is the key factor when shopping, do make sure that your shoe is as sturdy and comfortable, as it is stylish.
