Ramesh Sippy had to change the climax of 'Sholay' on the objections made by the Censor Board.
New Delhi: Director Ramesh Sippy wanted to end 'Sholay' in a more intense way but the Central Board of Film Censors (now known as Central Board of Film Certification) objected to the violence shown on the screen, so he ultimately decided to change the climax. In the original climax, Thakur (Sanjeev Kumar) kills Gabbar (Amjad Khan) to avenge the death of Jai (Amitabh Bachchan), but in the climax shown in the film, he hands over Gabbar to the police. The film also featured Dharmendra and Hema Malini in important roles. Take a look at the other climax.
