Lucknow: If Eid is an occasion to eat good food it is also about sharing good moments, and also doing a lots and lots of shopping.
And if you happen to be in Lucknow during Eid, the best shopping you can do during the festive season is buying chikankari clothes.
But don't go for just any colour. For men Eid is an occasion for white alone.
“White colour kurtas are much in demand during festivals,” says a shopkeeper, Naseem Akhtar.
For Mauseen and Nawaz it has become an annual ritual to take a rickshaw towards Chowk the place famous for Chikan kari work in Lucknow to buy chikan kurtas for Eid.
“We prefer white kurtas as for the women they wear coloured kurtas,” says Mauseen.
“The colour white is auspicious for the Muslims,” adds Nawaz.
The leading to Eid also sees a variety of chikan work stack the shelves in all shops here.
“There are different types of chikan work murri, phande and demand changes every season,” says a shopkeeper, Mohammed Ziya Siddhque.
But if men go for white, the womenfolk make sure they are draped in colorful suits and bangles for the festival.
“We love to wear bangles during the moonlight,” says Heena.
