BHUBANESWAR: Bharat Industrial Training Centre (BITC) is now the eighth training centre in the country which offers the Volkswagen Group Technical Apprenticeship Programme (VG-TAP) at its centre.Around 16 students will be imparted training to deal with the cars manufactured by the auto giant, Volkswagen. The students will be handpicked by the faculties from the existing lot of the students. Volkswagen group of Sales India Private Limited (VWGSIPL) director Dietmar Hildebrandt inaugurated the centre and spoke on cutting edge technologies which are now used to create new models of car. “The centre will provide an opportunity to the students to learn the technology used in the Volkswagen cars. There is need for a greater awareness among students on the evolving technologies,” said Hildebrandt.The course will be taught by two faculties who have been trained at the Volkswagen’s training centre. Most of the students will be absorbed by the Volkswagen company. According to a company official, the company has invested ` 2 crore in the special training centre.Also present at the inauguration ceremony were VWGSIPL HOD-Training Sanjay Kumar Patra and VWGSIPL manager Nilesh Arekar.
