Patna: Vishun Rai College director Bachha Rai, who is allegedly behind the dubious toppers of Bihar Board exams, surrendered before a local court in Bihar's Hajipur district on Saturday.
Rai reportedly had influential political connections through which he allegedly used to run the toppers scam. The scam came to light when the alleged toppers failed to answer even the basic questions related to their respected subjects.
Investigators had already collected documents from the college and Rai's residence.
The SIT lodged an FIR against seven persons including the management of Vishun Rai College, Hajipur, Centre Superintendent of GA Inter College, Hajipur where the alleged toppers took exam and Centre Superintendent of Balak High School, Rajendra Nagar, Patna where copies were evaluated and marks allotted.
Intermediate Arts topper Ruby Rai, science toppers Shalini Rai, Saurav Shreshth and Rahul Kumar have also been named in the FIR.
The matter came in lime light after a video featuring Ruby and Saurabh went viral in which both the students of Vishun Rai College were seen giving wrong answers to questions from their subjects.
The scam also forced the Bihar School Examination Board chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh to resign from his post on Wednesday.
