KOTHAGUDEM: They are all poor and below middle class families. But they dreamt of providing good education to their kids to see them in higher positions. So they sent their children to Dr LV Reddy Memorial English Medium School even if they could not afford the cost. But their dreams were shattered as the school bus carrying their children plunged into Pedavagu in Raghavapuram mandal near Kothagudem on Tuesday killing eight pupils. The parents of victims belong to Tungaram, Tekulaboru and Venkatapuram villages in Chandrugonda mandal of Khammam district. “I am an agricultural labourer. I sent my son to an English Medium School though it is very expensive to me. The tragic incident shattered my dreams,” said Gugulothu Arjun, father of Manikantha who died in the accident. “My son Santhosh studying Class III, used to say he would become a doctor. Being labourers, we felt very happy on hearing his words. But his wish remained unfulfilled,” cried Budida Ramesh of Srirampuram Colony. Hailing from an agricultural family, Mentula Venkateswarlu and Jayalakshmi opted for a small family. After the birth of M Santhosh, one of them underwent family planning operation to ensure the better future of their son. Now, their only son is no more. Heart rendering scenes were witnessed in Tungaram, Tekula Banzar, Vengal Rao Colony, Srirampuram Colony, Repallevada and Venkatapuram. The last rites of the children were performed on Wednesday. All the villagers bade tearful adieu to the children who died in the bus mishap.
