Vilappilsala strike enters 150th day

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The indefinite strike by the Janakeeya Samithi at Vilappilsala demanding the closure of the waste treatment plant there entered the 150th day on Tuesday.BJP members of Vilappil Panchayat P Biju and Senthilkumar took to fasting on Tuesday at the marquee erected by the Samithi.The Samithi leaders said they were planning a mass convention raising their demands in the wake of the new government assuming office.'We have already started ten protest units in the panchayat.The protest will be spread to more places,' said Nooru Mohammed, Janakeeya Samithi leader. The Samithi started the strike in the last week of December.
