KOCHI: Videocon will soon set up a manufacturing unit in Kerala, Videocon Industries Limited president P N Dhoot said on Saturday.At a seminar on Latest Economic Trends and their impact on Kerala jointly organised by Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and SBI Funds Management Limited at the Chamber Hall, here, Dhoot said the state government should take initiative for the setting up of large scale industries in the private and public sectors. Geojit BNP Paribas managing director C J George said more money had been pumped to the market particularly through NRI funds repatriated to Kerala due to the depreciating value of the Indian Rupee. “The recent economic turmoil had very little effect on the economy of Kerala and the state has benefited out of it,” he said. “The depreciation of value of rupee had a positive effect as there is a huge Malayali population working abroad,” he added. SBI Mutual Fund Zonal head M K Ramanarayanan welcomed the gathering. KCCI chairman Deepak L Aswani presided over the function. SBI Fund Management head Rajeev Radhakrishnan and corporate business head Amit Gupta spoke on the topics ‘Present Interest Rate Scenario & the way Forward’ and ‘Better Treasury Management in Current Interest rate Scenario’ respectively.
