Mount Zion Group chairman Abraham Kalamannil, who reportedly sold 232 acres of land to the KGS Group for the Aranmula airport project, has contradicted his own statements on conversion of paddy field, wetland and Kozhithode stream.
Addressing a news conference here on Friday, Abraham Kalamannil ruled out any conversion of paddy field or Kozhithode stream.
He said he had not received any court order against the conversion of paddy field violating the law.
However, he contradicted the statement by saying that he had converted the paddy field with earth from the nearby hill owned by him by using earthmovers. Abraham Kalamannil challenged the revenue officials for not initiating action against him if he had violated the law. He ruled out any excess land available with him at Aranmula where he bought land for the setting up of an aeronautical engineering college in association with the Pentecostal Church.
When the KGS Group approached for setting up the airport project, he agreed to part with the 232 acres of land, including the paddy field.
As part of the agreement, the KGS group paid `22 crore for the land and the balance amount of `30 crore as share in the airport project, he said.
