User fee to park vehicles on road?

BANGALORE: Here is some bad news for car owners who use road for parking their vehicles. They will be asked to cough up a specific amount to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) as user fee for using the road space instead of making provision for garage or parking space in their residential premises. “However, this is only a loud thinking and the idea is yet to take shape. I have convened a meeting of the BBMP officials, city legislators to discuss the idea. Let me see how it is received,” Home Minister R Ashok told reporters here on Saturday. He said apart from taking over the road space, the vehicles could also become a security threat as terrorists could plant a bomb and trigger it with the help of a timer. “Nothing should be left to chance in these days,” the home minister observed.
