Smartphones and tablets will also recharge faster through USB 3.0.

New Delhi: Smartphones and tablets will come equipped with a USB 3.0-based microUSB connector by the end of 2012, reports Mashable. The USB 3.0 interface will allow speedier data transfer than the existing USB 2.0 standard.

It is believed that, USB 3.0 allows data transfer at speeds of up to 625 MBps, which is 10 times faster than USB 2.0, whose maximum data transfer speed is 60 MBps. However, the USB 3.0 transfer speed on mobile devices won't be that fast, but it will be comparatively much faster than now. Also, smartphones and tablets will recharge faster through USB 3.0.

"What takes 15 minutes will roughly take 1 minute and 10 seconds," Mashable quotes Rahman Ismail, CTO of the USB Implementers Forum at the CES trade show in Las Vegas.

"We're coming out with new specs, new areas where we will make it very power efficient, power friendly," added Ismail.
