UP: One killed in clash, curfew in Bareilly
Police said curfew has been imposed in the entire city and all the schools and colleges closed till further orders.

Bareilly (UP): One person was killed and several others injured in Bareilly in a clash that spread to neighbouring Aonla tehsil even as curfew was imposed in the city, officials said.

Divisional Commissioner K Rammohan Rao said curfew has been imposed in the entire city and all the schools and colleges closed till further orders.

A clash took place on Sunday night in Shahbad area when people indulged in stone pelting, firing and arson. Later it spread to some other areas of the city and some persons set fire to a vegetable market in Sahmatganj and some shops in Jogi Nawada area, officials said.

The injured were rushed to hospital, where one Imran of Rolitola in Baradari area died due to gun shot injuries, they said.

At Aonla people resorted to brick batting and opened fire in the State Bank area this morning but there was no report of any casualty or injury in the clash, official sources said.

Though curfew has not been imposed in Aonla, all shops in the area are closed and security forces deployed following tension in the area.

"The situation is under control and no fresh incident was reported from anywhere in the city (Bareilly). Elaborate security arrangements have been made", District Magistrate Manish Chauhan said.

Additional Director General, Law and Order Jagmohan Yadav has also reached the city to take stock of the situation.
