UP couple fears honour killing, seeks police security

Noida: A newly-wed couple on Sunday sought police security fearing that they might be killed as they have married against their parents' wishes. The couple told media men at Dadri that they had eloped and had court marriage on May 2 at Allahabad. On August 9, they returned and started their conjugal life.

The woman's parents when got to know that they have returned, came at their place to take her with them. However, when she refused, her father in a fit of rage fired some shots in the air during which one of the bullets hit her mother-in-law. She was rushed to a hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, police said they are investigating the matter and the couple will be provided security.
