UK spy service breaks cover to seek recruits
After more than nine decades Britain?s SIS goes on a head-hunting spree.

London: Step forward the real James Bond! Britain's Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) needs you.

The country's foreign spy service lifted its veil on Thursday, taking to the Internet to recruit members.

Candidates must be over 21 and British, have lived in Britain for atleast five years and pass an ''extensive security clearance process''.

SIS, commonly known as MI6, has for the first time publicly touted for staff since its creation in 1909.

Earlier SIS relied on students or members of various intelligence branches of the armed services.

The move follows intelligence failures like this year's July 7 bombings in London.

The service's activities have been widely portrayed in fiction, most famously in the adventures of novelist Ian Fleming's suave and ruthless spy James Bond.

''Although the SIS archive remains closed, a great deal has been written about the service. Much of it is inaccurate or misleading,'' the Web site cautioned.

The Web site encourages budding spies who have an interest in operations, intelligence analysis, data handling and hi-tech gadgets.

So for all those spying for a dynamic career, this could be your calling.

What's your reaction?
