VISAKHAPATNAM: Chintapalle police arrested two armed militia members of the banned CPI(Maoist) Jarsingi Ganeswara Rao and Batchala Baburao at Lothugedda in the district on Thursday.
According to police, the militia members came to Chintapalle and on seeing the police at Lothugedda bridge, the duo tried to escape. However, the police chased them and caught. Police said the due confessed to distributing coffee plantations at Balapam panchayat in December last. They also assisted the Maoists by providing food and shelter whenever the latter visited their villages, police said. Ganeswara Rao is a resident of Thadapalle village while Baburao hails from Balapam village of Chintapalle mandal in the district.

In another case, another militia member Pangi Rubbi, a resident of Diguvavalasa surrendered before the OSD (operations), Narsipatnam, on Thursday.
