BANGALORE: Unidentified assailants have murdered two men by slitting their throats and dumped the bodies in Marasandra forest in Bagalur police station limits. The incident came to light when the forest staff were patrolling the area on Tuesday afternoon.The victims have been identified as Basanth Lal, aged around 30 years and his relative Santosh Lal,25, both natives of Uttar Pradesh. They were reportedly running a beeda shop at K G Halli. The police said that the forest staff a sensed foul smell while on a patrol and found the two bodies in decomposed state.Later, they informed the police about the incident.The assailants have cut their throats with a sharp weapon, the police said.Old Man Commits SuicideDejected over life, a 76-year-old man ended his life by throwing himself under a moving train near Malleswaram railway station on Tuesday. The deceased identified as Sathyanarayana, was a resident of Malleswaram and a retired employee of NGEF.Police said initially the incident was suspected to be an accident as he used to go there for morning walk everyday. However, investigations revealed he has taken this extreme step as he was dejected in life.Meanwhile, sources said he was upset over his recent divorce and the couple did not have children.Fire at Hong Kong BazaarAn accidental fire broke out at Hong Kong Bazaar in front of Tribhuvan theatre in Gandhinagar on Tuesday evening. Goods worth a few lakh rupees were gutted in the fire. Electric short-circuit is said to be the reason for the fire.However, the investigations are on, the fire officials said.Precious Stones SeizedThe officials of the Forest Department and the police seized 40 kgs of reef building corals on Monday following a tip off. After a careful intelligence, the officials raided Ishwar Rao Compound in Vidyanagar near Peenya. Akash P Jhigande (24), who was in possession of nearly 40 kgs of stones, has been booked under Wildlife Protection Act, the forest officials said.HI-TECH PROSTITUTION RACKET BUSTEDThe sleuths of the CCB’s Women and Narcotic squad have busted a hi-tech prostitution racket. Three persons, including two women have been arrested.The arrested person is identified as K Siddhartha Rao (25), a native of Hyderabad.The police said that they received a tip off that the accused were posting advertisements on internet with a phone number. They allegedly charged Rs 25,000 for the ‘services’.The police have recovered a Hyundai Verna car, a laptop, an internet data card, eight mobile phones, total worth around Rs 8 lakh from the arrested persons.
