HYDERABAD: As August 13 and 14, the dates for the written examination for recruitment to sub-inspector posts nears, the atmosphere is getting more and more charged with the TRS and TJAC adopting a belligerent stance. With union home minister P Chidambaram insisting that a fresh resolution be passed in state Legislative Assembly for the deletion of clause 14 (f) of the Presidential Order, the examinations are likely to run into trouble once again with the TRS leaders stating that they would disrupt the examination if the clause is not deleted before it commences.Though chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has also written to Chidambaram seeking deletion, there was no response to the letter, making one wonder whether Hyderabad would witness another bout of violence soon. The TRS and TJAC want the clause to be deleted which would pave the way for Hyderabad becoming part of Zone VI. At present, it is a free zone in accordance with a Supreme Court directive issued in 2009. If Hyderabad is a free zone, anyone in AP can apply for jobs in the police department. This, the Telangana activists feel, would deplete the chances of students from the region getting jobs in the department. The phase II of the recruitment in police department - recruitment for 1293 SI posts, has been jinxed ever since the notification was issued in 2008. When the state was all set to hold the examinations in November last year, TRS and Telangana students Joint Action committee vehemently opposed it and said they would only allow it if the clause is deleted. According to sources in the government, the test that is proposed to be held next week does not include any posts in Hyderabad zone and therefore any fear of injustice being meted out to Telangana people is unfounded. The examination is proposed to be held in all six zones, with zone V and VI being in Telangana region. There are 643 posts in Zone V and VI.  The examination for the vacancies in Hyderabad zone will only be held after a decision on the clause 14(f) issue.
