HYDERABAD: TRS Legislature Party leader E Rajender has warned the Congress of serious consequences if it ignores the aspirations of the people of Telangana and try to cheat them.Reacting to AICC leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's statement in Delhi on Monday, Rajender told reporters here that it was hig time the Telangana Congress leaders realised the real intentions of the Congress high command and resigned from their posts and positions. If they were not ready to resign, they would have no political future in the Telangana region, he said. “The TRS is committed to restarting the agitation and will not guarantee that the movement this time will be devoid of militancy. The next course of action will be finalised at Tuesday's JAC meeting.”Reacting to Azaad's comments, he said the senior Congress leader had been well aware of the Telangana issue since the 2004 elections. Because of the alliance with TRS, the Congress achieved power in the state then, Rajender recalled. The movement reached a decisive stage now because of the repeated assurances from the Congress, Rajender pointed out.“Azad had promised T state before the 2004 elections. How can he change tack now?” he questioned.“The Congress was in power at the Centre for most part of the 63-year period after independence and formed 11 new states. But why is the same party going back on its word in the case of Telangana?” he wondered.  Asserting that the Telangana issue cannot be settled with Srikrishna Committee recommendations, Rajender advised Azad to tour the Telangana region to gauge the sentiment of the people.
