Traumatised, threatened, abused kid quits school

KALLAKURICHI: The four-year-old girl, who was reportedly abused sexually by the principal and LKG class teacher at her school in Kalla­kurichi, has not come out of the trauma and dreads atten­ding classes, so much so her parents have decid­ed to coach her at home for now and shift her to another institution in the next academic year.“For the time being, we have bought some educational CDs and my wife is coaching her at home,” the girl’s father B Suresh told Express while screening a video recording of the child’s narration of the harrowing incidents that happened at school during the past few months.The UKG student of the private AKT Matriculation Higher Secondary school did not face any abuse when she was in LKG. But the child was put through harrowing moments after she went to UKG by LKG teacher Portia and principal Lasi Bosco who threatened her that she would be locked up in a ‘dark room with a snake’ if she spoke out about the abuse.The ‘dark room with a snake’ threat has rung a bell among a few other parents also, who recall their children too using the term and fear if they too would have been exploited by the two women, who are married and have children of their own. In the video, the girl speaks innocently of the perverted acts committed on her inside the principal’s room. Each of these acts have been mentioned in the FIR filed by the Kallakurichi police (but are too graphic to recall here).Suresh recalls his daughter once complaining of the LKG teacher teasing her saying she was chubby and he going to school and telling her to refrain from calling the child names.Agitated people of Kallakurichi expect the CB-CID to unravel the entire truth behind the episode and bring the principal and teacher to book.
