Tips to shed off that holiday fat
If all that holiday partying is showing on your body, here are some tips that might help you stick to your weight watch resolution.

New Delhi: The holiday season is over but if all that partying, eating and drinking is now beginning to show on your body, here are some tips that might help you stick to your weight watch resolution.

It’s time to get back into shape after all that binging and here’s a simple formula for weight loss – we will lose weight only if we burn more calories than what we take in.

But if exercising is too much of a task then here are some things you need to keep in mind to bust that fat.

If you think you are eating more than what you need to, then you probably are thanks to inflated portion sizes. Experts say that the size of the food portions have almost doubled in the last 20 years.

"The average restaurant meal now is about 2,000 calories, which is the total sum of calories that we encourage adults to eat, per day," says Dr Elizabeth Nabel of the National Institute of Health, USA.

She says that cutting down on those calories is not that difficult. For starters, you could start with splitting a meal with a friend or take some home for another day.

She also recommends that we eat slowly. It takes the brain 15 minutes to get the message that it’s been fed.

Also exercising is always a good option as it helps bump the more stubborn fat off the body. If sweating it out in a gym is not your kind of a workout, then strive for a 30-minute moderate activity like walking everyday.

But most of all don't rush the process of weight loss. "If you take weight off quickly, you're at risk for regaining it quickly as well," says Dr Nabel.

So get gorgeous this year and start by losing that excess fat. And once you've lost a few kilos you'll never ever want to look back.

What's your reaction?
