HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police have made tight security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of Ganesh idol immersion on Sunday.Policemen have been deployed at 30 tanks in Cyberabad limits to thwart any untoward incident.There are nine major tanks in Cyberabad for immersion of huge idols.Ganesh idols from neighbouring Medak, Karimnagar and Nalgonda districts will also be immersed in Cyberabad.The commissionerate has a strength of 6,180, including 1,850 home guards.Apart from regular staff, additional police force has been deployed to ensure the peaceful conduct of idol procession.Two RAF and six CRPF units and 21 bomb disposal teams have also been pressed into service.The police have intensified vehicle checking and stepped up vigil at public places to thwart any untoward incident.About six to eight lakh people are expected to participate in the Ganesh idol procession on the final day.The idol procession will be covered by more than 400 video cameras.The law and order situation in the city will be constantly monitored from the police control room.The police have enlisted the co-operation of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi and peace committees to maintain peace and harmony.“We are coordinating with the GHMC, Irrigation Department, APSRTC, Metro Water Board and APCPDCL to ensure the smooth conduct of idol procession,” said Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, commissioner of police.
