HYDERABAD: Punjagutta police arrested three persons on Thursday, including an accused in the theft of five kg gold at Abids few months back.They recovered more than Rs. 1.50 lakh cash, four tola gold and mobile phones from them. The accused include Mahipal, who was involved in the theft of five kg gold at Abids. Mahipal and another accused Deepak, both natives of Rajasthan, were involved in the theft.According to police, while lodged in prison they came across a property offender, Mohd Akbar Khan alias Vaheed Khan, a resident of Jeedimetla.Subsequently, all three came out on bail in August and the duo from Rajasthan left for their native place. Akbar Khan, who was in need of money, committed a burglary in a house on September 3 under Punjagutta police limits.He entered the house of G Venkatesh Yadav while the inmates had gone to attend a ‘pooja’ and stole Rs. 3.60 lakh cash and 26 tola gold ornaments.Investigating into the case, police narrowed down on Akbar Khan and came to know he was taking shelter in Deepak’s house in Rajasthan.A team of police officials went to Rajasthan and picked up Akbar Khan, Mahipal and Deepak’s father, Bhagirath and brought them to the city.“Akbar Khan had disposed the stolen property to Deepak, his father and Mahipal.Deepak fled on seeing the police while the three others are arrested,’’ Punjagutta detective inspector Shashank Reddy said.Police recovered Rs. 1.52 lakh cash, four tola gold and two mobile phones. The remaining stolen property is with Deepak and police are making efforts to nab him.
