Thiruvonathoni sets off

PATHANAMTHITTA: Thiruvonathoni, the unique country craft with a touch of traditional architectural beauty which carries food ingredients for the preparation of Thiruvonasadya for Aranmula Lord Parthasarathy, set off its journey from Kattoor Sree Mahavishnu temple kadavu on the banks of Pampa river at 6.15 pm on Thursday. Palliyodams of the neighbouring karas of Kattoor and Aranmula, including Cherukol, Kattoor, Melukara, Idappavoor-Peroor, Idappavoor, Ayroor accompanied the Thiruvonathoni from Kattoor temple kadavu.K Sivadasan Nair MLA, and Aranmula Palliyoda Seva Sangham office-bearers, were present on the auspicious occasion.Thousands of devotees gathered at the Kattor temple and the river banks to witness the setting off of the Thiruvonathoni. Devotees on both banks of Pampa river received Thirvonathoni by lighting the traditional lamps throughout the route. The Thiruvonathoni will reach at Aranmula Lord Parthasarathi temple kadavu at 4 am. After a traditional reception with vanchipattu, the food ingredients will be taken to the temple “Ootupura” for the preparation of Onasadya forLord Parthasarathi.
