Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is demanding Cauvery water not because of her concern for the people. It a gimmick to gain the sympathy of people as elections are approaching, said JD(S) working president and former minister P G R Sindhya.
The government must submit the statistics of drought-hit areas to the Central Government and make sure Kannadigas are not cheated, he said after a study of the drought situation at Bharathinagar in Mandya on Thursday.
He alleged that the government had not spent Rs 280 crore for drought-hit areas but only Rs 30 crore.
“The statement made by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar that Rs 280 crore had been released was far from true,” he said.
