KOZHIKODE: The feud between the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) and the Kozhikode District Cricket Association (KDCA) turned into an open war here on Tuesday with KDCA officials hitting out against a KCA decision which suspended them of the primary membership of the district body.A central council meeting of the KCA had taken the decision to strip KDCA president Sathish Chandran, former KCA assistant secretary Sabu P Samuel, members Ram Mohan Kamath and T P Ramesh of the primary membership of the KDCA, following a protest they held on the premises of KCA meet on November 30. The association had charged them with anti-association activities detrimental to the interest of the game of cricket and association and causing disrepute to the interest of the game and causing disrepute of KDCA and KCA. The association also explained the lack of action against KDCA honorary secretary M V Shreyams Kumar MLA with a statement that they do not consider him a part of the association. “We do not consider Shreyams Kumar as the secretary of the KSCA nor as a member. We have never recognised his election. So we have no business taking disciplinary action against him,” said KCA president T R Balakrishnan. But Shreyams Kumar hit out against Balakrishnan over his comments. “What right does T R Balakrishnan have to make that statement? If I say that Balakrishnan ceases to be the president of the KCA, will that be true,” asked Shreyams Kumar. He also questioned the legal authority of the KCA to suspend KDCA members of the membership of that organisation. “We are members of the KDCA by virtue of various clubs nominating us. The KCA cannotmeddle with the affairs of the district associations,” he said. KDCA president P Satish Chandran said that he was exploring legal options over the decision.
